ABIM CONDEMNS THE GENOCIDE IN DARFUR AND URGES IMMEDIATE ACTION TO STOP RSF ATROCITIES IN SUDAN
31 October 2025 / 09 Jamadilawal 1447H
The Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia (ABIM) expresses profound concern over the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation in Sudan, particularly in Al-Fashir, the capital of North Darfur, which has reportedly become the epicentre of mass killings perpetrated by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and its allied militias.
With international media and humanitarian observers denied access to the affected region, researchers have relied heavily on commercial satellite imagery to verify horrifying developments on the groundincluding large bloodstains visible from the air, widespread destruction of civilian settlements and the encirclement of communities desperately attempting to flee ongoing attacks.
According to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and Human Rights Watch, over 15,000 civilians have been killed in Darfur since violence escalated in 2023, while more than 10 million Sudanese have been forcibly displaced, making this one of the worst displacement crises in the world today.
The crimes committed clearly meet the legal definition of genocide under the 1948 Genocide Convention, specifically targeting the Masalit and other African Darfuri communities based on their ethnic identity.
ABIM urges the United Nations, the African Union, and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to take immediate and decisive action to halt the RSF offensive and ensure the safety of civilians in Al-Fashir and across Darfur. The international community must enforce a comprehensive embargo on any state or entity supplying the RSF with financial or military assistance.
ABIM further calls for unrestricted humanitarian access to avert looming mass starvation, and demands an independent international investigation under the International Criminal Court (ICC) to hold all perpetrators of war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide fully accountable. Malaysia, through Wisma Putra, must continue to play an active role in supporting urgent UN resolutions and elevate this crisis within ASEAN and the broader Muslim world, in line with the values of Malaysia MADANI.
ABIM stresses that the Government of Sudan bears the primary international legal responsibility to protect its civilians. The ongoing ethnically motivated killings cannot and must not be normalised nor tolerated in any diplomatic engagement.
In response to the worsening humanitarian emergency, ABIM through its humanitarian arm Global Peace Mission (GPM) Malaysia has launched an emergency relief campaign for Sudan via the dedicated platform pedulisudan.com to support life-saving assistance, medical relief and community recovery efforts.

The world has witnessed the catastrophic consequences of delayed action in Rwanda and Srebrenica as well as the continuing atrocities in Gaza. The international community must not allow Darfur to become yet another tragic chapter of collective failure. The warning signs are no longer signs; they are unfolding atrocities that demand urgent intervention.
Genocide does not stop in silence.
The world must not remain a passive bystander. Darfur deserves to live and we must act now.
