12 August 2025 – Dr. Fatin Nur Majdina Nordin, Vice President of ABIM (HELWA), Chairperson of the Rahmah Support Team (RST), and Deputy Chairperson of Bayt al-Rahmah, has called on the public to end the harmful stigma against individuals with mental health conditions.

She emphasized that just as individuals with physical illnesses or injuries—such as heart disease, diabetes, or bodily injuries—are encouraged to seek medical or specialist care, the same should apply to those experiencing mental health issues. Both require attention and treatment to restore their functional well-being.

Speaking at the plenary session titled “Fragile Soul, What’s the Cure?” organized by YADIM, Dr. Fatin shared methods for cultivating personal happiness. Citing Imam Al-Ghazali, she stressed that self-awareness is a crucial first step. Every accountable (mukallaf) individual is urged to know and understand their own potential, as this clarity helps a person recognize their life’s mission and rise above challenges and emotional pressure. She affirmed that every patient has the potential to heal, as human beings are the best of Allah’s creations—endowed with intellect and the capacity for reflection.
She added that the care of the intellect (aql), heart (qalb), soul (ruh), and body (jasad) must be balanced. Reading and seeking knowledge feed the intellect and heart; spiritual practices such as worship, remembrance (zikir), and reflection (tadabbur) nourish the soul. Meanwhile, the body requires healthy eating, adequate sleep, and a clean, socially active lifestyle.
Therefore, Dr. Fatin called on society to support both physical and mental health patients through community-based care. Empathy, compassion (ihsan), respect, concern, and the creation of safe spaces are essential for healing—not judgment or mistreatment.
This message was delivered during the 3rd Series of the Mental Health Solutions from a Da’wah Perspective Symposium (SMILED), held at Dewan Seroja, Diplomatik Precinct, Precinct 15, Putrajaya. Other panelists included Dr. Norli Abdul Jabbar (Public Health Specialist, National Centre of Excellence for Mental Health, Ministry of Health Malaysia) and Dr. Alizi Alias (Organizational Psychology Consultant). The symposium was officiated by YADIM President, Datuk Dr. Hasan Bahrom.
